Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Mary Schapiro testified about the actions of the SEC relating to the financial crisis. Topics included possible reforms to improve investor protection and confidence in the markets such bolstering enforcement programs, more rapid approval of investigation orders, and greater compliance with Commission subpoenas. Chairman Schapiro also said the agency is working to move ahead on a variety of programs to improve its collection of tips and whistleblower complaints, aggressively enforce securities laws and detect potential wrongdoing in the financial markets.

The Subcommittee also asked questions related to the fraud investigation of Bernard Madoff. close
