At the Scottish Parliament, Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill defended the government’s decision to release Abdelbaset Ali Al Megrahi, who is terminally ill with prostate cancer, to his home country of Libya on compassionate grounds. Abdelbaset Ali Al Megrahi was convicted of the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 which killed 270 people, in the air and on the ground in Lockerbie, Scotland. After his statement, Secretary MacAskill took questions from opposition leaders and members. close
