Erik Conway talked about the book he wrote with Naomi Orestes, Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming (Bloomsbury Press, 2010). Mr. Conway talked about the history of the subgroup of scientists who try to discredit what he terms settled science in controversial areas such as climate change and tobacco use causing cancer. He discussed his book with Greg Dalton and responded to questions from members of the audience. The event was held by the Climate One group of the Commonwealth Club of California in the San Francisco office. close
