Chad Moutray talked about the July 2012 employment numbers, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Unemployment rose to 8.3 percent from 8.2 in June, and 163,000 jobs were added. Mr. Moultray said the economy was “stuck in neutral,” that the number of jobs being created is not enough to lower the unemployment rate. Other topics included manufacturing jobs. the impact of the European Union debt crisis on the U.S. economy, and the impact on businesses of Congress' failure to settle tax and budget issues. close
