Maulana Karenga, creator of the Kwanzaa holiday, urged African-Americans to use Black History Month as a time to reflect on the struggles and accomplishments of their ancestors. He also believes that African-Americans should always contribute to the good in the world in spite of the injustices they may experience.

“Advancing Black and Human History: Holding Cultural Ground in Contemporary Times” was the keynote speech at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University annual Black History Month Convocation, held in the Gaither Gymnasium. close
