Panelists discussed key issues in the Canada-U.S. relationship, focusing on energy, the environment, and trade. The main topic was the Keystone XL Pipeline which would move crude oil from the tar sands of Alberta, Canada, down to the Gulf of Mexico. Delays in the project had strained relations between the countries. A video about the issues was shown. Panelists referenced President Obama’s State of the Union speech and some major comments made by the Canadian prime minister and the media. Panelists also responded to questions from members of the audience. Peter Van Dusen moderated.
