Panelists talked about the role of women in advancing the civil rights movement, and the status of modern day civil rights. Women who participated in the 1963 March on Washington told their stories of the day and the movement to commemorate the 50th anniversary. 

A portion of Andrew Young’s video interview for “His Dream, Our Stories,” produced by Comcast and NBCUniversal, was played. Joe Coleman sang “I Gave My All.”

"Women Leaders of the Movement: Past, Present, and Future" was an event of the Black Women’s Roundtable of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, held at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill. Co-sponsors included National Council of Negro Women, National Action Network, King Center, and Planned Parenthood. close
