U.S. Postal Service officials and interest group representatives testified on a draft bill to improve the agency’s financial outlook. Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe said he supports the legislation, the Postal Reform Act of 2013, stressing that without significant structural changes the postal service is unsustainable. Among the issues addressed in the hearing were labor costs, alternative transportation modes and energy efficiency vehicles, pricing, and service to rural communities.
