Defense Department spokesperson Bob Hall briefed reporters in the Pentagon on the implementation and compliance with the new “no-fly” zone in Iraq announced by President Bush the previous day. The new “no-fly” zone, part of Operation Southern Watch, has been placed off limits to Iraqi aircraft in order to ensure the safety of coalition surveillance flights over Iraq and to prevent Iraqi bombing of populations in southern Iraq. close
