Richard Kurin, the Smithsonian Institution’s Under Secretary for History, Art, and Culture, toured the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History and talked about eight objects featured in his book, The Smithsonian’s History of America in 101 Objects. During the visit, the author showed: a Conestoga wagon, a John Bull locomotive, the lunch counter from the Greensboro, North Carolina, sit-in, George Washington’s uniform, Cesar Chavez’s jacket and hoe, an RCA television from the 1930's, and a bugle from the USS Maine. close
