The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a hearing to assess whether progress has been made by the federal government in reducing government waste. Witnesses provided a list of ideas to reduce waste including greater transparency at the Pentagon, privatizing the Postal Service, and overhauling the government’s information technology purchasing system. The hearing starts with testimony by Senate Governmental Affairs Committee Chair Tom Carper (D-DE) and Ranking Member Tom Coburn (R-OK). They were followed by a panel of government watch dog groups. close
