Lee Ellis talked about Leading With Honor: Leadership Lessons from the Hanoi Hilton, his book on his experiences as a prisoner during the Vietnam War. He detailed how he and his fellow prisoners were tortured, malnourished, and bombarded with propaganda for over five years. He explained in detail the events of the day he was captured after his plane was shot down. He recounted that during the first few months in prison, he was “scared and cold.” He shared recollections of the heroic deeds performed by Brigadier General Robbie Risner, Vice Admiral James Stockdale, Paul Galanti, and Jeremiah Denton. He told the lessons on leadership, loyalty, faith, and forgiveness that were forged into the soldiers during their detainment. He talked about how the prisoners entertained themselves by naming the guards and turning events into humorous stories. close
