Cliff Christl talked about the origin of the Green Bay Packers, the impact the team has had on Green Bay, and why many consider the Packers “America’s Team.” Earl “Curly” Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun started the team in 1919. The Green Bay Packers is the third oldest franchise in the NFL, and the only non-profit, community-owned, major league professional sports team in the country.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Green Bay, Wisconsin, from September 20-26 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2. close
