Linda Lipscomb, site director at the Museum of the Confederacy in Appomattox, presented items connected to General Robert E. Lee’s surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant, and toured the museum’s exhibits looking at the war’s aftermath. On April 9, 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee met Union General Ulysses S. Grant in the village of Appomattox Court House and surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia, effectively ending the Civil War. close
