Witnesses testified at a hearing examining federal actions to comply with a law passed the previous year in resolving cases of children abducted from the U.S. and held in foreign countries. Representative Christopher Smith (R-NJ) was critical of the State Department officials in failing to provide accurate data in their first annual report and for not holding Japan accountable regarding unresolved abduction cases. The second panel included testimony by parents of abducted children to India, Tunisia, and Japan. close
