Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, held a town hall meeting at the Maytag Innovation Center in Newton, Iowa. Senator Rubio called for an constitutional convention of the states in order establish a balanced budget amendment and set term limits on Congress and federal judges. Other topics addressed included national security, immigration reform, education, and repealing President Obama’s health care law. Representative Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who had recently endorsed Senator Rubio for president, made introductory remarks. After the event Senator Rubio mingled with the crowd. close
