President Obama and King Abdullah II of Jordan spoke to reporters following their bilateral meeting about efforts to defeat ISIL*, resolve the conflict in Syria, and the situation in Israel and the West Bank. President Obama responded to questions about the Supreme Court nomination process. He urged Senate Republicans to put politics aside and hold a hearing for the nominee, calling it part of their constitutional duty. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) had pledged no action on any Supreme Court nomination before the election, saying the decision ought to be left to the next president.
