General David Rodriguez, commander of U.S. Africa Command, briefed reporters and responded to questions on military operations in Africa. General Rodriguez said that the number of ISIL* fighters in Libya had doubled over the last 12 to 18 months and estimated between 6,000 and 8,000 ISIL fighters were on the ground there. He said the number one priority was going after targets that posed an imminent threat to U.S. interests and personnel.
