Members of the Canadian House of Commons debated the North American Free Trade Agreement, legislation that is intended to promote trade between the U.S., Canada and Mexico by lowering trade barriers between the three countries. Opponents of the legislation claim it will cause industries to relocate to Mexico where government regulation of industry is not as strict as in the U.S. and Canada. Members of the House also questioned the prime minister on issues relating to Canadian politics. The House of Commons approved the legislation, which was then sent to the Canadian Senate. close
