Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and David Perdue (R-GA) held a news conference to unveil new immigration legislation. The proposal, which deals with legal migration to the United States, includes provisions to eliminate ways U.S. citizens and permanent residents obtain green cards for family members. The bill would also eliminate a diversity lottery program, which grants up to 50,000 green cards a year to people from countries with low migration to the U.S. The senators also would like to reduce the cap on the number of refugees let into the United States from 1 million a year to a half of a million. Senator Cotton said he spoke with President Trump about the legislation and that the president supports the concept. close
