Members of Congress and television industry officials spoke in a news conference to announce the introduction of a voluntary violence ratings code for television programs. The code, which was voluntarily approved by the four major television networks, will mandate that parental guidance advisories run prior to television programs that contain graphically violent scenes. The speakers responded to questions from reporters following their prepared remarks, including questions on the motivation behind the networks' approval of the advance parental advisory plan. close
