Walter Cronkite anchored the live CBS News broadcast of the launch of the first manned mission to land on the moon, Apollo 11, from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The program includes interviews with former President Lyndon B. Johnson, astronaut Wally Schirra, and science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke, and live footage of the Saturn V rocket launch into outer space with astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins inside the command module. Also featured were numerous graphic simulations showing portions of the launch that were not captured by cameras. CBS reporters also interviewed spectators in Florida.
