Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler testified before a House Appropriations subcommittee on the agency’s fiscal year 2021 budget request. Several members asked about EPA’s efforts to police and regulate PFAS chemicals, also known as the “forever chemicals.” Subcommittee Chair Betty McCollum (D-MN) noted at the beginning that the Trump administration proposed a 27 percent cut below the previous year’s funding level. “But fortunately, this budget will not be enacted,” Representative McCullum said, and adding, “Congress will reject these cuts once again, just like we did the last three years.” close
