The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties held a virtual hearing on protecting voting rights during the coronavirus pandemic. Among the witnesses were Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D), Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton, ACLU Voting Rights Project Director Dale Ho and Fair Fight Action Chair Stacey Abrams. Committee members largely questioned witnesses about the potential benefits and challenges of expanding mail-in voting for the November 2020 elections. Other topics included voting access for disabled and minority populations, election security measures, resources for polling places and ensuring voters can safely cast in-person ballots during the pandemic. close
