Representatives of the U.S. Park Police, the FBI and the Department of Justice spoke in a news conference to discuss the details of their investigation into the July 20 death of White House Deputy Counsel Vince Foster. The official investigations determined Mr. Foster had killed himself with his late father’s handgun in a Virginia park after exhibiting signs of clinical depression for a period of months. The speakers responded to questions on Mr. Foster’s mental state at the time of the suicide and the evidence supporting the investigations' conclusions, including a note left by Mr. Foster at the bottom of his briefcase prior to his death. The Department of Justice announced that the text of the note would be made available to the media. close
