Transafrica director Randall Robinson spoke in a news conference to discuss the continuing U.S. presence in Somalia and to react to the recent announcement by the Department of Defense that U.S. Army Rangers would be sent to Somalia to reinforce U.N. peacekeeping troops. The announcement was in contrast to the perception of a U.S. withdrawal from the region. He criticized calls for complete military withdrawal from Somalia, noting the U.S. contribution to Somalia’s current problems. close
