Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) discussed threats to American democracy. He spoke at a virtual event co-hosted by American University’s School of Public Affairs, the Kennedy Political Union, and the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. The senator, in conversation with American University Government Professor James Thurber, discussed several topics, including bipartisan cooperation in the Senate, ending the filibuster, systemic racism, combating disinformation, and the impeachment of President Trump. When discussing the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, Senator Booker said it was one of “the most heartbreaking” moments in his life. close
