Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Charles Rettig testified before the Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee about challenges facing the agency during the coronavirus pandemic. Commissioner Rettig said there were no current plans to extend the 2020 tax filing season. He also answered questions about backlogs from the 2019 tax filing season, tax evasion, payments from coronavirus relief legislation, and avoiding identity theft and tax fraud. close
