Senate Natural Resources Committee Chair Joe Manchin (D-WV) and United Mine Workers of America President Cecil Roberts joined the National Press Club for a virtual discussion on coal mining and the energy transition. Senator Manchin talked about the need to make sure coal miners were not left behind as the nation looked to transition away from fossil fuels. He spoke in support of carbon capture and sequestration while warning that simply eliminating the coal industry would not solve the global climate crisis and would hurt U.S. workers. close
