During the summer of 1942, Nazis and French collaborators began rounding up Jews living in the unoccupied region of France and deporting them to concentration camps in Poland. While he was away at a Quaker summer camp, Peter Feigl’s parents were arrested and sent to Auschwitz and killed. He recalled his journey to a rural French village where he was sheltered for a time, and his daring escape to neutral Switzerland - all while hoping to one day reunite with his parents. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum hosted this program, and provided the video. close
