House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Michael McCaul (TX) took part in a Washington Post virtual conversation on the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and COVID-19 origins, including vaccinations. Regarding the situation in Afghanistan, Representative McCaul said that the troop withdrawal was a mistake, leaving the U.S. and its allies vulnerable to future attacks. He also expressed concern for the women and girls of Afghanistan, as well as the Afghan citizens who helped the U.S. military, such as interpreters, who may fall victim to the Taliban. close
