Frances Haugen, a former Facebook product manager, testified at a a United Kingdom Parliament joint committee hearing on misinformation and extremism on the social media platform, and the harmful effects the Facebook-owned Snapchat app can have on children. Ms. Haugen said she is doubtful Facebook and Instagram are safe for children’s use. The U.K. was considering legislation to impose government regulations on Facebook and other social media platforms. close
