After a meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell held a news conference. He announced that the central bank would raise interest rates by half a percentage point, the largest increase since 2000. He said inflation is “much too high” and needs to come down to keep the labor market strong. He also outlined additional details on how the Federal Reserve intends to curb high inflation. close
