Retired federal Judge Thomas Griffith said he is skeptical of term limits for federal judges and refuted the idea that the Supreme Court is too political. The judge, who served on President Biden’s bipartisan commission to assess Supreme Court reforms, gave these comments during a virtual discussion with the Washington Post. He also criticized public “attacks” on the Court’s legitimacy, saying people should read justices' opinions and contentious issues should be debated in a civil manner. Finally, amid the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade, Judge Griffith said the debate about abortion being a constitutional right is a “vexing” and “difficult” issue. close
