Former Congressional Budget Office (CBO) Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin said the “midterms are typically bad for a sitting president,” as he discussed the possibility of Republicans gaining control in the 118th Congress. He said that with the economy, inflation, and crime, “it’s not particularly promising for President Biden.” Other topics included health care, economic inequality, energy policy, affordable housing, trade and the supply chain, and public health policy. He also addressed areas where Democrats and Republicans can compromise and divisions within the Republican Party. close
