British Parliament Presents Humble Address to King Charles III

King Charles III spoke at Westminster Abbey to both houses of Parliament for the first time as sovereign and head of the State of the United Kingdom. King Charles III, quoting William Shakespeare, said that the late Queen Elizabeth II “was a pattern to all princes living,” as he paid tribute to his “beloved mother, the queen” in response to condolence messages delivered from the leaders of both houses. Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle and Speaker of the House of Lords John McFall conveyed the messages from their respective chambers, each expressing admiration for Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 at the age of 96.
