Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland and Sarah Charles, a top USAID official, testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the conflict in Sudan. Lawmakers from both parties called for a special envoy to Sudan over concerns that the Biden administration is not prioritizing the conflict. In addition, they questioned witnesses on diplomatic efforts to encourage peace talks, humanitarian aid into the country, the evacuation of American citizens, and the impact of the conflict in Sudan on surrounding countries including Ethiopia and Egypt. close
