Eleven Republicans from the House Freedom Caucus, in protest against the debt limit deal, joined all Democrats and in voting down (206-220) the rule for debate on a bill that would prohibit the Consumer Product Safety Commission from using federal funds to regulate gas stoves as a banned hazardous. Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) also voted against the rule, in a procedural ploy so that the rule could be brought up again for consideration at a later date. close
