Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and General Services Administration Administrator Robin Carnahan co-hosted a news conference on using Inflation Reduction Act funds to better equip the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The officials announced $300 million to build new headquarters for two agencies under the DHS--Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)--as well as for a new parking garage, entry gate, and security checkpoints on the main campus. These investments are intended for the DHS to better meet its mission and to ensure sustainable building practices. Also, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Administrator Carnahan and Pepco Holdings CEO Tyler Anthony on sustainability, building construction, and decarbonization. This event occurred around the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act being signed into law. close
