The Wisconsin Supreme Court heard oral argument in Clarke v. Wisconsin Election Commission, a case that could determine which political party would control the state’s legislature in the 2024 election cycle. The group of Democratic voters who filed the suit argued that the election maps were gerrymandered and violate several provisions in Wisconsin’s Constitution. They want the maps to be redrawn, believing the current maps heavily favor Republicans. Six attorneys argued in this case. The Wisconsin Supreme Court has seven elected justices. Currently the ideological makeup of the Court is described as four liberal justices and three conservatives. Video of the oral argument was provided by the WisconsinEye. close
