This came after the chamber earlier in the week failed to advance this foreign aid in a package that also included border security. In this session, lawmakers first defeated Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) effort to open up the amendment process on the measure, and then, members voted 67-27 to advance the bill. Eighteen Republicans voted “aye” on advancing the bill, and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was the only non-Republican who voted “no.”
