White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was joined by National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan to brief reporters on news of the day. She responded to Arizona’s Supreme Court ruling that upheld a 19th century law banning all abortions except in cases where the life of the mother is threatened. She expressed concern about the ruling and said the Biden administration remains dedicated to protecting women’s reproductive rights. Mr. Sullivan previewed the official state visit for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. He said the public can expect announcements dealing with defense and security cooperation, space and technology, and research partnerships in artificial intelligence and clean energy. He then previewed an upcoming trilateral meeting at the White House where President Biden will host the Philippine president along with Prime Minister Kishida. Also, reporters asked about a potential Israeli military operation in Rafah. close
