President Biden gave remarks in Pittsburgh on efforts to strengthen labor unions and steel manufacturing jobs. He announced a series of actions taken by his administration to reinforce support for United Steelworkers including ensuring fair competition with Chinese steel companies. The U.S. was investigating anti-trade practices by the Chinese government regarding steel and aluminum. The president said if anti-trade practices were confirmed, he would call on U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to triple the tariffs for steel and aluminum imports from China. President Biden’s trip to Pittsburgh comes as he made stops across Pennsylvania in his reelection bid. close
