Joseph Califano of the Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse discussed a recently completed study into the direct financial implications of smoking in the U.S. He stated that “all the health care reform in the world would be unsuccessful if we can’t reduce smoking.” Thomas Lauria of The Tobacco Institute countered that argument suggesting that the study is inaccurate and misleading.
