Hodding Carter, of the Action Council for Peace in the Balkans, and Danielle Sremac, of the Serbian-American Affairs Council, discussed recently ordered NATO air strikes against the Serbs. The Serbs retaliated with a surface-to-air missile strike against British jets on NATO patrol. Western powers policy remained unclear on further military action. Guests discussed the impact of NATO strikes and the lack of support to resolve this conflict by U.S. and European partners. Ms. Sremac argued for continued fighting, and the creation of a Serbian ethno-states. Mr. Carter argued for increased UN, NATO, and United States intervention to contain Serbian aggression. Neither made reference to the massacre of Muslim Bosniaks by Serbs in the region. C-SPAN’s Connie Doebele moderated the conversation which included calls from viewers. close
