First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke about human rights issues at a special conference on poverty in Copenhagen, Denmark. She dealt with methods of improving living standards around the world and the roles of non-governmental organizations in such improvement. The conference was held by non-governmental organizations attending the UN World Summit for Social Development. The day following the conference, the Clinton administration announced a 10-year, $11.7 million program to help keep girls in school in Africa, Asia and Latin America. close
