Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. Richard Sammon of Congressional Quarterly reviewed the first 75 days of congressional debate on legislation outlined in the Republican Contract with America. In the point-counterpoint segment, Rep. Walker and Mr. Kettl debated progress on and meaning of the Republican Contract with America. Rep. Walker participated via remote connection. Donald Kettl is the author of Fine Print: The Contract with America. Ms. Loeb discussed the Pat Buchanan presidential candidacy to be announced today. In the first of two parts, Rev. Lloyd Ogilvie discussed his background and his appointment as Chaplain of the U.S. Senate. close
