President Bill Clinton and others spoke about labor issues for working women. President Clinton reaffirmed his support for resolving the dilemmas of working women. The president said programs like the Family Leave Law, Head Start and efforts to expand child care and strengthen child support enforcement were important to helping women succeed as people, as workers, and as parents. To provide further help, the president said he supported giving a tax deduction for all expenses for education after high school, favored streamlining the federal job training programs, endorsed the expansion of more affordable loans for college students through the Direct Loan Program, and supported raising the minimum wage. close
