Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers, and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail. From the School Bus, James Billington, Librarian, Library of Congress talked about the Library of Congress. Gerard Gawalt, Specialist-American History, Library of Congress, elaborated on the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence. In the newspaper roundtable, Former Representative Robert Kastenmeier, D-Wisconsin, and Former Senate Charles Percy, R-Illinois, discussed headlines from papers across the country. Larry Sullivan, Chief, Rare Book, and Special Collections Division, discussed the rare book collection at the Library of Congress. Daniel Mulhollan, Director, Congressional Research Service, discussed the Congressional Research Service. Judy Stork, Manager of Automation, discussed the Library of Congress Computer Services, with a demonstration of “Thomas.” close
