Republican Leader Senator Bob Dole, R-Kansas spoke briefly on the Senate floor about the partial government shut down and the Balanced Budget Amendment. Senator Dole expressed his hopes that an agreement with President Clinton could be reached in the very near future. Senator John Warner, D-Virginia, suggested that should the House of Representatives finish their work on the Balanced Budget Amendment over the weekend, The Senate could take up the measure the in the beginning of the up coming week. close
